Pearl River, NY -- (8/12/16) Tom DePrisco, candidate for the 38th Senate District in New York, today released a statement regarding a press conference held at Orangetown Town Hall to request the Department of State to schedule a public hearing regarding the suspected blockbusting and aggressive realtor solicitations occurring in Rockland County.
"This morning I attended a press conference held at the Orangetown Town Hall to request the Department of State to schedule a public hearing regarding the suspected blockbusting and aggressive realtor solicitations occurring in Rockland County.
I stood side-by-side with dedicated community members. I applaud Hilda Kogut and Michael Miller, members of Citizens United to Preserve our Neighborhoods, for eloquently sharing their stories and concerns.
For quite some time, I have been outspoken about this issue and have been disappointed with the seemingly lack of aggression on my opponent's part to collect documentation from the public. Other than stating this at a June 28th community meeting, I have not seen anything in any of my opponent's emails, mailings, or website imploring people to provide documentation. I even personally suggested to him after the meeting the importance of an aggressive outreach to the community.
I will work aggressively and intelligently to solve all of the challenges facing our communities."
